The Buchan region is located in the north-east of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
We aim to photograph every species that we see, and our efforts are concentrated upon Aberdeenshire - in particular the Buchan coastal area in which we are based. A separate page, 'Beyond Buchan', is devoted to those species that we have only encountered elsewhere in Scotland.
Scotland is a beautiful country, and while many areas have more dramatic scenery in the form of mountains and lochs, the Buchan coastal region can compete with any other, and the fine range of wildlife is there to be enjoyed and admired, for those with the eyes to see.

The images used on this site are our originals and are made with ordinary digital cameras. Given the fleeting nature of some sightings, we are constantly seeking opportunities to obtain improved images. Over 325 species are currently featured with additions and improved photographs added regularly.
